E3 Blog

                Over the last couple of weeks we have been doing the E3 unit.  This unit was very educational and I learned a lot from it.  Some of the new things I learned included: the difference between the 2 different types of light bulbs, where a lot of the energy is used in my house, and things that help you save money.  First we learned what used up most of the energy in your house.  The thing that took up the most energy was the heating and cooling systems.  This was not very surprising to me because I know that most people have their thermostat set too high or too low.  Also these things pretty much run all day and all night keeping your house the right temperature for the appropriate season.  The second most energy consuming thing was appliances.  Some appliances include: TV, Computer, Refrigerator, and chargers.  This was not surprising to me because I know most people keep their TV’s on when they are not watching.  Also people always leave all or most of these appliances plugged in all the time which uses energy as well.  The third most energy consuming thing is the water heater. This was surprising because I did not really know much about the water heater.  After this E3 unit I know what the water heater should be set on and other things that now I realize that the water heater works a lot, and uses a lot of energy.  The fourth most energy consuming thing is lighting.  This was surprising to me because I thought lighting would be number one or two.  Many people leave lights on most of the time, even when they are not in the room.  I know I sometimes forget to turn the lights off when I leave a room.  Another thing I learned from this unit was how CFLs are a lot better than IL.   I knew that CFLs cost more money when you buy them, and I knew that in the long run CFLs cost less.  After doing the lab with the comparing of the two types of bulbs, I learned that CFLs cost a lot less over a lifespan of the light bulb and plus they last longer.  I also learned that just by doing small things like having your thermostat set at the right temperature, having your refrigerator on the right temperature, and many other things you can save money on your energy bill.  Over the course of this unit I learned a lot.

            I am going to change many things in my life after learning all the things from this unit. I am going to start unplugging my phone charger and Xbox.  These us a lot of energy when not at use and plugged in, so by unplugging them that will save money.  Also I’m going to turn off the light when I leave a room.  This will save money in a couple ways.  First it will save money by not having lights on that are not in use, and if the lights are not on as much then they will last long. Then you won’t have to buy light bulbs as much.  I’m going to start buying CFLs since they are a lot more energy efficient and last longer.  The CFLs save a lot of money too.  Another thing I am going to try to do is make sure the thermostat is set on the right temperature.  My house won’t be using more energy than it should.  I am going to make sure there are good windows and good insulation in my house so when I do have my house heated up or cooled off the temperature will stay in.  This way the A/C or heater won’t run more than it needs to.

            After learning all these new things I think I will be an advocate for energy efficiency because it will help them save money.  Also it will help with pollution. For example: changing to CFLs will cause a lot less CO2 emissions in the air.  Also switching to these light bulbs will save them a lot of money.  I will tell them all the fact I learned and teach them how they can save energy just like I learned in this unit.  Then once they know they can tell their friends and family and slowly people will start to become aware of how to be energy efficient.  It will take some time but over time people should just keep passing on the information to other people and the cycle will just keep going.

            There are many things I liked from this unit.  I liked getting all the cool things that we put in our house and get to use.  I also liked how there was a lab that went along with each thing we got. It showed us how the object saved us money and how it helps save energy.  Off the top of my head there really isn’t anything that I can think of that I didn’t like. I don’t think I would change anything with this unit because it was fun and I enjoyed it. Maybe they could add like a couple more things for us to use but other than that I wouldn’t take out any of the labs.  This was a very fun unit and I liked it the way it was.            

Article write up

The topic of the articles I read was water pollution. Water pollution is a very big problem everywhere in the world.  The first article I read was water pollution in China. The water pollution is alarming. They just talk about how pollution happens everywhere and that is caused by nations trying to climb to power. For example, The USA in the 1800’s destroyed some of its natural resources trying to reach Manifest Destiny. China is one of the worst places for water pollution.  In these articles there are two different countries that are having problems with water pollution. One is China and the other is South Africa. In China the cause of the pollution is pretty much because they are a developing country while in South Africa it is pretty much because of Poor city planning and not having the funds to support water management and research, the lack of resources, and overcrowding. Both of these countries are having troubles with pollution but both have different reasons why.  In these 3 articles there were many interesting pieces of information. I thought that amount of pollution that is in China. The article said that 70 percent of China’s lakes and rivers are polluted. Also 90 percent of their underground water is polluted. This means that most of the  million Chinese people do not have clean water. The article also says that 75 percent of diseases in China come from water pollution according to World Health Organization (WHO). Water pollution doesn’t just affect the stuff in the water but it also affects the people around the water pollution. The WHO says that there is about 100,000 water pollution related deaths a year in China. The mortality rate could easily be prevented if the government took some action. In the article about pollution in South Africa I thought it was interesting that many places don’t have good sewage. Many places just dump the sewage right into bodies of water or rivers and that pollutes the rivers. Then the rivers flow into lakes or seas or oceans and pollute the bigger bodies of water. For example, sewage from the central business district of Dar es Salaam and Tanga just dump their sewage right into the Indian Ocean without treatment according to water expects.  These articles had kind of an impact on me. The problems in these articles aren’t in the USA but I know that pollution happens here too. These articles make me want to take action and do whatever I can to help pollution to be stopped and not just here but in Places like China and South Africa that really need help. All pollution can be cleaned up and stopped, it just takes a group of people that care and change what people do. It even said in the article about the pollution in China that the deaths due to water pollution can be changed if the government cared and did something about it.  I think the information in these articles is accurate. They had sources like in the South Africa article it uses things that the World Health Organization said. I think these articles are reliable because it is copyright in 2011 by the Pollution Prevention Guide.  

PSA Response

I think that all the PSA's were very good. A couple of them just really caught my eye but Danial Wax`s groups PSA. The pictures and music just caught your attention and made the PSA really good.  Right from the beginning it caught my attention because of the voice kinda seemed like a sad tone and the music was sad. I think there were some down parts of the PSA like a lot of reading but overall it was a good PSA. I also think that the rap PSA was a good one too. They put a lot of time and effort into it. The rap was very good too. There was a lot of rhymes. It was very interesting and it kept my attention so im pretty sure it did for other people. All the PSA`s were very good and showed exactly what was wrong and what needed to be fixed.

 I dont think these PSA`s will have much of a chance to impact on society. I think this because i know it is very hard to get people to change the way they live. I think the one about unplugging your phone charger will change people because that is very easy to do. Plus Many people already do this and its not really that hard to unplug it after you use it. I think if these PSA`s were made by older people or college students then they would have a better chance of impacting society but since it was just high schoolers then i dont think they will do much but whole knows maybe they will. I would like to see these PSA`s do something and changes peoples minds because we really need to change the way we live so the Earth lasts as long as it can. We need to worry about all the things that were in the PSA`s and change how we do those things.

Response to Human Footpringt video

a)      The video we watched really shocked me and made me realize just how much of an impact each of us have on the earth in our lifetime. It just made me made me realize that we do a lot of bad things to the earth and its things i didnt even realize did much. It made me feel scared because we are slowly killing the earth and after some time there will not be an earth left because of what we do to it. It also made me feel bad because i know i contribute tp harming the earth and a lot of the things i could avoid. 

b) There many things that shocked me but there are 3 that really stand out. One thing was that in one babies lifetime of wearing diapers they wear around 3,796 diapers. In a year there are 18 million diapers used. That is a lot of diapers and the worse part is that we dont evenm know exactly how long it takes for them to actually disintegrate. It probably out lives the babies that wear them. Another stat that i thought was crazy was that we eat about 47 million hamburgers each year. One hamburgers are not the greastest for you and thats a lot of cows that are killed for that many hamburgers. The third stat that i thought was crazy was that we chop down about 20 million christmas trees a year.

c) We should just try and make our footprint we make as small as possible. We should try and turn all lights off if we arent in the room and unplug things that we are not using. We can try and carpool if we can. Doing these things will make our human footprint smaller then what is now and make the earth can last longer. All these things should be done because if we continue to live the way we are then the earth will not last that long. It is very important to make the earth last as long as it can so humans and everything else can survive too.

Introduction to Jacob McGinnis

My name is Jacob McGinnis. I am 16 about to turn 17 in October. I am a Junior. I was born on October 5th 1994 to the parents Kimberly McGinnis and Steven McGinnis. I have a sister that is 12 and is in 6th grade at Gahanna Middle School South. Her name is Kayla. I have a dog named Ginger that is about to turn 5 and a cat named Shadow that around 15 years old. I lived in Whitehall until i was in the 3rd grade then we moved to Gahanna when i entered into the 3rd grade. I have played soccer since i was like 5 years old and still play now. I play for the JV gold team. I also played basketball in the 7th and 8th grade for south. I enjoy watching football especially Ohio State football. I’m excited for this season because i want to see how they overcome the problems. I love watching Ohio State basketball too. I like going camping and doing things outside. I love dogs a lot. I have had a dog my whole life. From the day i was born to the today. I really love math and i do really well in math at school. I really like to eat food. I eat a lot but i don’t gain any weight. I am really excited about this school year and i am ready to learn a lot this year. I am looking forward to learning a lot about the environment and stuff like that.

Me and Orson Welles

In english this week we read Me and Orsen Welles. So far this book is interesting and i really like it. Richard is a character that many guys can relate to. He makes the book way more interesting. All teen guys for the most part only want girls and thats all they care about. This book is very funny and i like how orsen talks. It is very funny how he yells at like everyone and how he talks to them.

After reading this book i hope we watch the movie. I really like watching movies and i really like watching the movie after reading the book. It is fun to compare the book with the movie and how things are different and the same. Many times the movie is a little different then the book.  Movies are just fun to watch and i like being able to see what happens. Here are some clips from the movie.

This movie looks really good and i hope we watch it. I just really love watching movies for some reason. I am really surprised that i actually like this book. I dont normally  like many books but this one is alright. It is just interesting to me and i havent fallen asleep yet. So that means it isnt boring. Most books put me to sleep but not this one. Well we will see how the end of the book is. i have to go read now

Not another book

So in english class now we are going to be starting the thing i hate the most; reading. I think reading is my least favorite thing to do in the whole world. I just hate reading so much that i would like to take a flame thrower to ever book in the whole world minus any religious books. thoses are important. But the other books just suck. I think i have read 1 book in my whole life that i liked any and i barely liked that book. Reading just bores me and makes me fall asleep. Every time i read i all a sudden get really tired. no matter what. I could be wide awake but then i start to read and then im tired. I really do wish i liked reading but i just dont. I know how people say it is very important and makes you smarter or whatever but im smart enough and i never really read. I just never have to read in the first place because of soccer. I think reading is like the least important thing in my life and always will be unless im forced to read. I just dont know to many people that like to read. Many of my friends hate to read but some kids like to read but idk how they do it. I think i will go on youtube and find kids reaction to reading and post it on this. So i couldnt really find anything but oh well, i know a lot of kids hate reading. Im pretty sure that about 80 percent of students hate reading.

Well the book we are reading has something to do with orsen wells or however you spell it. I really hope that this book is good and interesting but most books arent. But we will see since we start the book tmro. Well thats all for this week

Its over

This week in english we finally finished the play Julius Caesar. I really hated this play and was super boring. If it wasnt for potter stopping every 10 seconds to tell us what is going on i would have had no clue. I dont understand why we as high schoolers have to read William Shakespeare. It is so pointless and we honestly do not care about it. I think just about every kid who has read this play hates it. It just is dumb and boring and not for 10th graders. I mean i made it through the play and i think it was so much better that we got everything explained to us. Without that i think everyone would have died. But most of us survived if you actually tried and pay attention. The kids who did not pay attention kinda failed all the quizzes and just didnt care. But if you tried it was aight. I guess now that i think about it the play really wasnt to bad. The play is kinda stupid because everyone who is anyone dies. I think thats kinda funny but oh well. If i wrote this then i dont think i would have made everyone die but i guess they did. I think i liked Romeo and Juliet better because it was a play about true love and everyone wants that. But i dont think most people would go that far by killing themselves. I know i probably wouldnt at this age. Killing yourself for that reason i think is not what you should do. So many people love them and would miss them so i wouldnt recommend killing yourself like they did.\

I think we should watch the movie of this play if there is one. I think it would be kinda cool but i have no clue how good it is. But i would like to see. But i dont think we will get to watch it.

I choose Brad Pitt for Caesar because he has been a movie from about the same time. He was in the movie Troy and i just think he is a good actor. Also all the ladies love him and it would bring in a lot of money. He can play about any role.

I choose Johnny Depp for Brutus just because i didnt really know who to pick. I think he is a pretty good actor and he has played a lot of different roles in many movies. He always looks different in each movie. I think they could get him to look like a good Roman.

I choose Russel Crowe for Antony because he has long hair and i picture every roman then to have long hair. I also picked him because he seems like a warrior haha. Um i dont really have any other reasons for that.

I choose Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel because they both are hot. I think a lot of guys would go see the movie if they were in it. Also they are pretty good actors.

This was kinda hard for me because i dont know many actors that would be good for these roles but i tried my best. I gave it my best effort but this blog probably sucks lol but oh well i trried

almost done

So we are coming to the end of the school year but there is still so much to be done. I have had so many projects and work to do. I cant wait until i don't have to do these blogs anymore because they are boring and i never know what to say. This is like the easiest way to get points but i have a hard time with it. Its hard to talk about what we did that week in English. We dont really do much and when we do its the same all week. Like if we read, we read all week. so how do you write a 30 min blog on that? I find it really hard to do and i just end up off topic. Like this blog so far has only been about 4 mins. That is why i hate these. It feels like i have been typing forever when it has only been like 5 mins.

Well im going to talk aboout this week in English. We started ready Julius Caesar. So far it is alright but i have no idea what it means and if it wasnt for potter i would have no clue. I kinda think it is boring but im trying to give it a chance like he said to do. So far its not going well. I almost fall asleep everyday but i have been able to stay awake and read along. I like how we are told what like ever sentence means because without that it just sounds like stupid talk. Like who talks like that? it is a really strange way to talk and how Shakespeare ever came up with it i have no clue. but it is kinda cool.

I think it would be super cool if everyone started to talk like they do in this play. It would be very interesting and funny. Even though i have no clue what it means half the time i could learn. It couldn't be that hard i dont think. Maybe one day i will try and talk like that for a day or 2. People would probably think i am crazy though but oh well. It would be funny though. I think it is worth trying just to see what people say.

Well im running out of things to say now. Again i really hate these blogs and i want to be done with them. I think i like it better when we have a topic to talk about instead of just what we did that week in school. Oh well i guess i just need to deal with them and do them so i get the points. well thats all for this week i guess

shakespeare is the man?

This week we started our Shakespeare unit. The first day in class we listed words that came to our minds about him. Some of the words were kinda funny. Then Mr. potter went in like a 30 min discussion on how he is the man. I thought it was funny because some girls in my class, wont say any names, tried to go against him which was clearly not working. We read a poem from him that proved he was the man. After a long discussion i am convinced he is the man. Even though i have no clue what he is ever saying, he still is the man. He is the best writer ever no doubt. here are some examples why....

 His writing is like no one other and very different. I would like to know how he came up with these sonnets. It is very interesting i think. I wish i could write like that sometimes. then maybe i could get more girls. But he is the only one who can.

It is just amazing how still to this day he is being taught in school. It has been like 500 years since we wrote this stuff and its still around. That is just amazing to me and any writer now would wish that their writings would last that long. Well this week we are starting the play and i will have to see how good that is. cant wait!

Jealousy: It's never pretty on you

Dear reader,

Welcome to my blog.    In this post you will see the theme of jealousy throughout. In the novel Knights of the Hill country by Tim Tharp; jealously is displayed from Blaine towards his best friend Hampton. Blaine and Hampton play football for Kennisaw High School. They planed on going to the same college to play football, but as their senior seasons progress that dream seems to become impossible. While Hampton is having a great season as middle linebacker; Blaine struggles because of a knee injury he got at the end of the season before. Blaine ends up having just a subpar season, while Hampton is having the best season of his career. Over time Blaine sees his popularity with the fans and his chance of playing college football fall apart. As Blaine is getting no offers Hampton finds out that Oklahoma University may be interested in him. Blaine seems to be jealous of Hampton’s success, and he realizes he has no chance to play with Hampton. This jealousy kind of ruins their friendship. I choose this theme because jealousy is very apparent in this novel. It shows how it is easy for a friend to easily become jealousy. Blaine does not like how the season is going and especially once they lose their last game which would have made it 5 undefeated seasons in a row. He thinks football is all he has and once he figures out that he will not make it to college football while his best friend will. Blaine becomes jealous. I hope you will enjoy this blog.

Dear Diary,

            The feeling of jealousy, I don’t think I have felt anything like it. It gets worse and worse everyday and sometimes I wonder if it will go away. I try hard everyday not to be jealous of him, but I can’t help it. I mean why do I feel jealous. This feeling inside me makes me feel like I have nothing and he has everything. I feel like my life is falling apart. I think of Hampton playing college football without me, and it is hard for me. We dreamed of playing together at Oklahoma University or Oklahoma State, but this seems to be impossible now. My last season has been exactly the opposite of what I thought it would be. Hampton is now the star of the team and I am nothing. I have nothing. I wish this jealousy would just go away. I don’t think he knows how I feel about him becoming so popular on the field and with the college coaches. Instead of being jealousy I should just be happy for him and support him, but this feeling of jealousy makes it impossible. This is changing my life and I think it is messing up our friendship. Jealousy just takes over and makes you a totally different person. I never wanted to be jealousy of him. I try everyday to see the bright side. Just because I can’t play college football doesn’t mean I can’t get an education and that my life is over. Being jealous of him won’t change anything. He is still going to college to play football while I’m not. Maybe things will change soon and oh boy do I hope it changes soon. This is taking a toll on me and changing everything. Maybe I should just talk to him or maybe I will just be stuck with this the rest of my life. Thinking of what I could have had if I had gone to play college football; gives me this feeling. Maybe it will be there for the rest of my life

Dear Hampton,

            I would like to apologize for the way I have been acting recently and for being jealous. It is hard to see all the success you are having while I am not playing my best. I see that you will be playing college football without me. The plan we had of playing together is falling apart and because of that I have this feeling. It is hard for me and I know I should not be so jealous, but because I feel this is why I am saying I’m sorry. Also this feeling of jealousy is making me act different. Knowing that I will not be playing in college makes me feel like a failure. You have a nice life ahead of you with football and everything, and I have nothing now. I think I waited to long to talk to you and I let it boil inside of me to long. Now that our friendship is going down hill I would like you change this feeling I have. I need to be happy for you and know things happen for a reason. Well maybe we can get together something and talk about this. I would like for this to change and change very soon. This feeling of jealousy is eating away at me and I can’t take it anymore. I think I can make this feeling go away and we can change things back to how it used to be. That is all I want. I do not care about if you are better then me in football or anything like that. I just care about us being best friends like it was before.

Reflection

            The first genre I choose was a diary entry. I choose this because it was really easy to show what jealousy is like. In the entry you can clearly see what the person is feeling and why they are feeling jealous. Many people write in diaries to let their feelings come out. I had an easy time writing this diary entry because everyone has felt jealous in their live so I could relate.

The second genre I choose was an apology letter. I choose this because it shows how this person feels. It shows that the person doesn’t like the feeling of jealousy. It also shows that the person really hates how this jealous feeling is making him feel and how it’s making him act. The apology letter really shows that they want to fix this and change how they feel just like every jealous person does. This letter makes it clear that jealousy is not what they wanted, and never thought it would happen. People become jealousy many times over there lives and I think the best thing to do is just say you are sorry.

The third genre I choose was a picture with a caption. I choose this because I think this picture really shows how jealousy can take over with any age of people. Anyone at any age can become jealous. Jealousy doesn’t care how old you are or what the situation is. A person could feel left out or want something that someone else has; they will then feel jealous. The picture shows that this very little girl is jealous that the boy is kissing the other little girl and not her. I think that instead of feeling jealous and being mad she should just accept it or maybe wait and see if he will kiss her. People can’t have everything but there are some people that will have stuff you don’t and vise versa there are things you will have that other people wont.

The fourth genre I picked was a haiku. I choose this because poems can show feelings and emotions. I also choose it because I sometimes like writing poems and I thought I could try it. I think this poem I made is a great way to show what jealousy is like.

Overall I thought this project was easy. At the beginning it was really hard to choose 4 genres to pick. There were so many choices but I finally choose the best 4 that I could tie jealousy into. Once I choose the genres I was fine. It was easy because I could relate to the feeling of jealousy because I have felt it before and writing the things like the apology letter. I really liked this project because I actually had to read and if a teacher doesn’t make me I won’t read. This was a fun project and I liked having to do the different genres and trying to figure out how I would tie in jealousy to each one. I think this project is a keeper and should continue to be assigned to students.

my greatest achievement

I have many great achievements in my life. Its hard to pick out just one but after thinking about it i think my greatest achievement would be making the JV soccer team this year. I have been playing soccer for a very long time. I started when i was like 5 in the Whitehall rec league. The 10 years i have been playing soccer has lead up to making the JV soccer team. My whole life has been about soccer pretty much and i was happy when i made the team. When  i found out i made the team i was really excited and was ready for the season. Playing soccer for Gahanna is a really exciting thing. The season was really fun and i enjoyed everyone on my team. We did a whole better then what the coaches expected. Because we were mostly sophomores on JV they didnt expect us to do so good. We went 14 and 2. They were very proud of us and it felt good to be on the team.

My next goal is to make varsity. Making varsity would be awesome and a lot of fun. It makes a lot of memories and good relationships. Making varsity would be my new greatest achievement. My whole life has lead up to playing high school soccer.

I have worked hard in the club season so i can keep playing high school soccer. Its a lot of work but it is worth it and is a lot of fun.

I am very proud of myself for how far i have made it playing soccer. It all started when i was a little boy and has gone my whole life.

The Shrink Machine

            It was a Friday night in small town Mooreville, Illinois. Mooreville was a quiet and peaceful town. Not much went on. Everyone knows everyone, and since not much goes on people are all they have. Unless your name is Dr. Reynolds. HE used to be a doctor but decided to stop and pursue his dream. His dream was to build a shrink machine and for the past 2 years he was working on it. His wife Jane, always told him he could never build one and that he was crazy, but he tried anyways. Well that Friday night his wife was outside enjoying the stars when she heard…

          “Praise the Lord. I finally got it to work. Jane hurry, come down here!”

          She then went downstairs and she saw their dog Ginger shrunk. Ginger was about 51 pounds at normal size, but she was now 20 pounds. She was about half her normal size.

          “What the heck did you do to Ginger?” Jane asked.

          “I just finished my shrink machine and I wanted to test it.”

          “Why didn’t you use a plant or something else? Anything but our dog.”

          “Don’t worry sweetie, I can bring her back to normal size.”

          “Well change her back right now!”

          “Fine, fine I will change her back right away.”

          After about 10 minutes Ginger was back to normal size. She ran up the steps out of the basement to meet Jane. She was glad to see her dog back to normal size. Now that she knew her dog was fine she could relax and go to bed. She knew her sister Emily was bringing over the kids tomorrow morning. Emily had two great kids and every now and then Emily had to go out of town for work. Sarah and Jimmy loved going to Uncle Bill and Aunt Jane’s house. They would also get whatever they wanted and they loved it. But this time they will be encountered with an extremely crazy adventure.

          “Kids get up!” Emily yelled up stairs. “I need to be at the airport in 2 hours.”

          “Mom it’s really early,” Sarah said. Sarah was the older of the 2 kids. She was entering 5^th grade this school year. After losing their father when she was 4, her and her little brother Jimmy, who was 2 years younger, has always been excited to go to Uncle Bill’s house. He was like their father now since their mom decided not to marry again. Bill was the only male in their life. So any chance they could go over, they were excited.

          “Jimmy, mom said it’s time to get up,” Sarah said.

          Jimmy gets up and starts singing. “It’s time to go to Aunt Jane and Uncle Bill’s. Fun, fun, fun all the time.” Jimmy was always happy to go to their house. The kids got ready then went downstairs.

          “Are you ready to go?” their mom asked.

          “Yes mommy,” they said.

          They all loaded into Emily’s car and headed to her sisters house. It was about a 20 minute drive to Mooreville where they lived.

          When they pulled into the driveway, Aunt Jane was sitting on the porch with Uncle Bill. They got out and the kids ran to the porch.

          “Aunt Jane, Uncle Bill we missed you!” Sarah said.

          “Well I’m glad you guys are here. We will have a lot of fun this week. Well let’s get your bags and say buy to mom”.

          The kids got their bags and said bye to their mom. She told them to be good, but they always were good for Aunt Jane and Uncle Bill.

          It was now dinner time and the kids, Bill, and Jane were at the table.

          Bill started to say “I have something very cool to show you after dinner”.

          “What is it”, the kids asked?

          “I can’t tell you. You have to wait until after dinner”.

          “Oh man, why Uncle Bill?” Jimmy asked.

          “Because we need to eat now and play later”. Right after dinner we can go look at the surprise”.

          “Okay,” said the kids.

          After a great dinner, Uncle Bill took the kids to the basement. IN the right corner there was a machine.

          “Holy cow!” Jimmy yelled.

          “What is it Uncle Bill?” asked Sarah.

          “It is a shrink machine. Anything you put in it, it shrinks it down. You can shrink it to any size you want. You could shrink it down so much the object is so small you can’t see it.

          “Can you make things bigger,” Jimmy asked. Bill, “because I don’t like being smaller then Sarah. I want to grow and be taller.”

          “No, sorry Jimmy. It only shrinks, but maybe I can figure out a way to make things bigger too.”

          “No way,” Sarah added. “I don’t want him to be bigger then me ever.”

          “Can we shrink something Uncle Bill? Please!”

          At first he didn’t think it would be such a great idea, but the kids talked him into it. So he went upstairs. He came back down with a plant. Aunt Jane followed. He put the plant on the shelf. The kids said they wanted to shrink it down about 25% its normal size. So he set the dial to ¼ size and hit shrink. But then something went wrong. The rays came out and shrunk everyone. The kids, Bill and Sarah.

          “Oh my God,” Sarah yelled. “What did you do?”

          “I don’t know what happened. For some reason it shrunk us too!” Bill said.

          “Well no crap Bill. We are tiny. How are we going to get back to life size? There is no way we can do it ourselves.”

          “When does your sister get back?”

          “She will get the kids Sunday, At 10 in the morning.”

          “We will just have to wait until then. We could try and make signs and everything to clue your sister we are tiny.”

          “How will we make it until then?”

          “It won’t be hard, let’s start thinking of things we can do to get your sister to see us.”

          So they started to think. They decided they would have to make some sort of thing outside so the kids’ mom knew to walk in. Since they got shrunk in the middle of the day, they still had the back door unlocked. They made a big sign that said, Bill shrunk everyone. Go to the back door, it is open. After they finished making the sign it took all 4 of them to carry it to the front door. On the way back they ran into their dog Ginger. Since they were small, Ginger decided to try and eat them. Bill, Sarah, and the kids ran for their lives. They made it to the bathroom and hide.

          It was now about 10 at night. They just decided to sleep in the bathroom where it was safe. The kids’ mom would be getting the kids tomorrow.

          It was Sunday morning now. Bill, Sarah, and the kids were woken up to the sound of what could be Emily. Them they heard, “hello, where are you guys? I saw the sign outside.” No answer.

          Bill knew they would have to go out of the bathroom and get Emily’s attention. So they walked out and Emily saw them.

          “What happened?” she asked.

          “Well I made a shrink machine and I showed the kids, but it went wrong and we all got shrunk.”

          “Can you be brought back to normal size?”

          “Yes of course. Just take us in the basement.”

          So Emily took them to the basement. Bill told her what to do and at the push of a button they were back to normal. The kids got their stuff and said bye to Aunt Jane and Uncle Bill.

          After this adventure Bill decided to stop messing with the machine so no one else gets shrunk again. Life went on but now little Sarah and Jimmy can tell everyone at school the next day of their great adventure

Movies, Movies and more Movies

There are so many movies out there that are good. I love watching movies but im not really like a crazy movie watcher. I wont really go out of my way to see a movie. I have to hear about it and it has to get good reviews. There are so many movies that are good that i havent seen that i wish i could.

Some of my favorite movies are Space Jam, pretty much any will smith movie and most of Adam Sandler

movies. I love Space Jam because it is super funny. I also love how they puit the looney toons. Also to see Jordon in it was cool. It has a great story and just is so funny. I could still watch this movie all the time at age 16. Some of my favorite Will Smith movies are I am Legend, I Robot, pursuit of happiness, Hancock. I love his movies because they are all action except pursuit of happiness. He is a great actor and just plays the parts really well. He does a good job of acting like he is actually in that situation. here are some examples.    

Also i love adam sandler because he is supper funny. Like movies the waterboy, the longest yard, 50 first dates, the wedding singer, and many more. He even can be funny in movies that are more for kids like bedtime stories. I actually saw that one in the movies and it was super funny. He is a really good actor and knows how to make people laugh.

Waste of time or not?

There are many things i do that i would consider a waste of time. The first is play video games. I probably play way to much and i am addicted to xbox. When my xbox brought a couple weeks ago i almost freaked out and i didnt know what to do with my time. Some of my favorite games are NCAA 11, madden 11, fifa 11, nba 2k11. One the weekends this is my life most of the time if im not with friends or hanging out with a gf or whatever. These games can be so addicting and i most definably play to much. I like never paly on the weekends because of my soccer practices but on the weekend thats all i do is play.

Another way i waste time is watching is watching movies. There are so many movies that i have watched over the years and my favorite movie of all time is space jam. It is the best movie ever no questions. It is just super funny and any movie with the loony toons is good and it has micheal jordan. I think i have watched this movie at least 15 times over my life time. Movies are like the best way to waste time without doing anything or without thinking at all unless it is a movie like inception which i have watched twice. I also have watched I am Legend like 6 and most will smith movies a lot. If a movie is good i will watch it so many times and just waste time.

Life with a sister

I have had a sister for about 11 years of my life. It wasn't until i was 4 when i got her. Life for sure changes when you get a sister or brother. Life before having my sister was great and i got everything i wanted. All of my mom and dad attention was on me and i loved it. My dad would always play with me. Life was just great as a single child. But it all changed when she was born. At first i was super excited and was happy to finally have a sibling. I was totally wrong about that. All of their attention was focused on my little sister but i really didn't care. The good thing with having a sister is it teaches you how to share and get along with people. Some of the things i hate, especially with her is she is kinda a tom boy so she trys to wear my clothes when they are way to big for her and she always wants to play my x-box. Its just annoying and she wants to do everything i want to do, but as i get older i learn how to control my anger and frustration and since im older i have to be the example. She always wants to play with me and my friends. We never want her to so we just end up leaving or just ignore her but then she freaks out and tells my mom and i get in trouble. Another thing i have learned is the older brother or sister are the ones who get in trouble no matter what. That is one of the things i hate the most. Also they always get to do stuff before i did. Like i got a cell phone in 8th grade and my sister is going to probably get one when she is in 6th, and i got txting when i was a freshman ans she will get it in 6th as well. I got my first i pod in 7th grade and my sister got her first i pod touch this year when she was in 5th. I just wish parents would do the same for the younger kids as they do for the older kids. Its just annoying but i dont really care that much but i just wish they would. I would never wish that i wouldnt have a sister but i wish it wasnt as annoying. But im learning how to live with it and deal with it.

Now im going to talk about the good things. Whenever you have nothing to do and have no plans you can always play something with them. Yeah they might not be as good at whatever you are playing but at least it gives you something to do. You can teach them a lot about school and just life and if they have a teacher you had you can tell them stuff about that person and help them out. You always want the best for your siblings. No matter how dumb you think they are or stupid you still love them and life without them would be super different.  

Cartoons

I will always remember waking up Saturday morning and watching cartoons. Those were the best times ever and i wish i was little again and could watch those cartoons again. Today's cartons are super bad and like there arent even cartoons. most of the shows like on stupid Disney are with real people and suck. We need to go back to the days when we had really good cartons. Some of my favorite from when i was a little boy include: Scooby Doo, Dextar's labratory, Cow and Chicken, Johny Bravo, and others that i cant think of. Some of the cartoons i miss that are a little older then me are The Jetsons, the Flintstones, Yogi Bear, and many others. The thing that made these cartoons different was the creativity. For example, Cow and Chicken. Who in the world comes up with a cartoon with a cow and chicken that are brothers that have real parents and do normal stuff like people and can talk. That was the thing that made that show funny and interesting. Another example is Johny Bravo, You were always wondering what girl would beat him up and always looked forward to it. The thing makes the cartoons now a days suck is they have no creativity and just arent funny or cool or anything. Cartoons was basically my life and i feel bad for the kids growing up now that have like sponge boosquare pants and thats all. To be honest that show isnt really that good compared to what i had  and what my parents had. We will always remember those old cartoons and how funny they were and how much fun they were to watch but we will probably never see them again.

First blog in a while

So i havent done a blog for about 2 weeks and now i know why i hate them so much. I never know what to say in them. I always have to just go on and on to make it the right length. So i guess i have to talk about what we did in English this week. The week after break was really tough and nothing went well out side of school or in school. I never knew life could be so hard but im finding that out now. Well in English we just read some stories that made me fall asleep. I wish i wouldnt fall asleep ever time we read but its to hard. I go into that class and im wake and then we start reading and im sound asleep. I always miss out on the stories. Maybe thats why i never do good on the tests about what we read. I think the only story i havent fallen asleep to was The Monkey's Paw. I already have read that story and i knew what happened so if i missed it i would have been fine but for some reason my eyes decided to stay open and not sleep. But for the stories i have never read they decided to sleep and then i dont know what happened and i miss out. This is a big problem for me and the more i try to stay awake the harder it is to stay awake. I dont know why i cant stay awake. I get plenty of sleep at night and i am awake for all the rest of my classes. I wonder if anyone else has this problem with falling alseep in English class. Maybe if i just stop trying to not sleep i wont use as much energy and then i wont fall asleep. Sleeping in class in not normally good and i always miss everything. Maybe i just need to start going to bed at like 9 at night and maybe that will work but for now idk what to do and im out for this week.
