last blog this year

So this is the last blog i will have to write for the year 2010. This has been a great year and started of great on the first day of 2010 when ohio state won the rose bowl. it was a great game and now ohio state has another chance to win a BCS game. but i need to talk about English class. For the last week before break we just read some mysteries and watched a ,ovie called the illusionist. The stories we read we pretty good but i dont like reading that much. I really liked the movie but i missed the most important because of my Spanish thing. I guess i will have to rent the movie somehow or watch it on youtube. This is one reason i always hate missing class because then you never know whats going on and i always happen to miss the  most important days of the year. I hardly miss any class but when i do i hate it. So over break im going to Orlando for a soccer tournament and i hope it is warm there. I really hate this cold weather sometimes but at least this winter im going to get away from it for a week. It really doesnt feel like it should be break already. This school year is going by so fast and this year as flown by. I really cant remember a year going by so fast and it seems like i was just opening presents last Christmas. Im kinda running out of things to say now so im out until next year when i have to start these super fun blogs again.

just another week

This week was a really slow week but only one more and its winter break. This week we started the mystery and suspense unit. I kinda like this unit. I love the mystery and not really knowing what can happen. These books and movies like this keep me sitting on the edge of my chair. But there are a lot of scary movies i dont like but some i do like. They always have you ready to jump out of your seat and are very exciting. I think i am really going to like this until and i hope we read and watch some scooby Doo. scooby doo is like my favorite cartoon and movies ever. I thonk Shaggy is my favorite character. He is so funny and is like the one that belongs but doesnt belong in the group. He hates ghosts and the monsters but him and scooby are always the ones who gets the bad guy. Them 2 are like the perfect friends haha and are so funny together. That show always makes me laugh and always will even when im older. Im kinda running out of stuff to say right now so i will talk about sports. So cam newton won the Heisman this year. He was clearly the best for it. he basically was the reason auburn went 13 and 0 and is going to the national championship. It will be a great game. a lot of scoring and i think neither team will be able to stop the other. It is going to be very fun too watch. The second best bowl this year i think will be the rose bowl. Wisconsin will probably be able to pull it out. ths third best will be the sugar bowl. It will be hard for OSU to stop Mallet but they can do it. It will be a close game i think but you never know what osu team will show up. If the OSU team that shows up that did in the Rose Bowl last year they can win. I cant wait for the games to start

Another blog

In English we are learning about human rights. This week we read stories and watched movies about how 2 different groups of people had there rights taken away. The first group was the Japanese Americans and how they were put in the internment camps and had there rights taken away. The other groups was the Jewish people who were put in the Concentration camps. Both of these examples are just completely wrong and never should have been done. Sometimes you wonder what has to go through someones head when they do stuff like this. To kill innocent people in the concentration camps on purpose and just making the Japanese people live in this places that were in fences and lost all rights they had. But these events are over and there is nothing people can do about it now. These were very bad things in the history of the world and US history.

Here is a link to the last part of the movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-bR1WBOttU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ97mUnx3yk

This is a very good movie that shows kinda what it was like and how some young children like the German boy didnt know what was going on.

The story Nightjohn is a story about how bad slaves were treated back when slavery was still in the United States. Slaves were treated pretty much the same way as we treat animals but without whipping them and hurting them. In this story there were a couple of examples of how bad these slaves were treated. The first African was named Alice. She was a day dreamer and just would rather die then be on the plantation. She would always wonder to places she wasn't aloud and then one day the master let the dogs on her to make sure she wouldn't get away. Another person in this story was Jim. Jim got his legs ripped off by the dogs which the master let go to get him. Another slave was Pawley. He would sneak away to a girl from another plantation and spend time with her. He would always make sure he would come back home before bed checks so they didn't know he was gone. But one day he feel asleep and the owner was waiting for him. The owner then cut his ankle so he wouldn't run away anymore. This was a normal thing they would do if the slave had tried to fun away. The owner cut it wrong and he just let him bleed out and die. Back then slaves were treated really bad and it was really wrong how they were treated.

In the Chapter Mascot, It is the story of what got Malcolm X got started and what made him realize Blacks needed to do something and try to change how Blacks were treating. In Michigan Malcolm was a growing boy and he had dreams of being a lawyer. At this time before the Civil Rights Movement this dream was pretty much impossible but Malcolm just hates that. For years Malcolm tried and tried but one day a professor named Mr. Ostuiski told him he needed to be realistic and that there is no chance that he can be what he wants to be.Malcolm then realized it was wrong blacks were not treated the same as whites. He then decided he needed to change that. The professor kinda chanced Malcolm's life and how he would impact the Civil Rights Movement.

There were many similarities in the movie and the 2 stories we read. In the Great Debaters and NightJohn they both take place in the south were blacks were definitely not treated right at all. The other story took place in the north were blacks were treated a little better but not that good either. In the movie you saw how in the south white people didnt like blacks at all. When the family was driving down the street and the hog was in the road and the white people went crazy. They made the guy pay way more for the pig then what it was worth but blacks back then just had to do what the whites asked or they would be killed. In the movie and Mascot both took place right before the Civil Rights Movement where Nightjohn took place before the civil war which made blacks free. In all the Blacks had to learn how to live with white people and how bad they were treated.

:)

We have 2 days until Thanksgiving break. This Thanksgiving came really fast this year but it will be the best when Ohio State beats the crap out of Michigan in Columbus. Well it will be like 7 or 8 years in a row but i have kinda lost count now. Well i guess i need to talk about class now. We are now learning about human rights and reading stories about that. The first was Nightjohn which was just a story showing how slaves were treated then which wasn't right. The second story was a chapter about Malcolm X.

Here are some quotes from Malcolm x:

Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery.

I am for violence if non-violence means we continue postponing a solution to the American black man's problem just to avoid violence.

I believe in human beings, and that all human beings should be respected as such, regardless of their color.

I don't even call it violence when it's in self defense; I call it intelligence.

If you're not ready to die for it, put the word 'freedom' out of your vocabulary.

Now here are some from Martin Luther King JR.:

A man who won't die for something is not fit to live.

A right delayed is a right denied.

A riot is the language of the unheard.

Just by these quotes you can see the difference in the ideas of the 2. Both of them were trying to get Blacks equal Malcolm x used more of an aggressive approach where Martin Luther King Jr. was more peaceful. Two totally different mentalities fighting for the same thing.

This week in English we finished the play 12 angry men and watched the movie. The play kinda made we realize how different people are and how much their views are different. Overall the play was pretty good i guess. The movie helped me remember what juror was what and what they did. But the movie was kinda boring but at least it helped me a lot i think. Not much happened on the movie for the most part. On Wednesday we saw the To Kill a Mockingbird play at the school. I thought it was really good and the singing was the best part. I thought the actors were really good and did a great job. I thought it would be cool to put the movie trailer for the movie.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi88P7KfaMA

Since im talking about movies, I would really like to see the movie Unstoppable and Hereafter. I think Friday im going with my girlfriend to see hereafter But i really want to see Unstoppable too. Hereafter seems like it would be a little better and i kinda like those kinds of movies more.

Here is the hereafter trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDnHfQtH0zU

and Unstoppable: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM-0Ywc7wNY

I dont really know what else to talk about so here is a poem:

THE GAME OF LOVE

I'm caught up in this game of love
and play the hand I'm dealt.
I thought that when I played this game
everything I had felt
would bring me joy and nothing else
but the emotional joy which is at stake
can sometimes lead the heart to bleed
and be replaced by pain and ache.

Love can lead to heavenly bliss
that takes you far beyond
anything in this crazy world
to which you can respond.
You throw caution to the winds.
You give it your all.
You defy the heartache.
You stand up tall.

You express your feelings.
You repress none.
You revel in what it does
and love what it's done.
For love won't ever be denied
and the game that you're in
is filled with emotions.
So you take it on the chin
and love.

Week 10

So we have been going to school for 10 weeks now and im kinda tired of it already. Week 10 of English was kinda boring but not to bad. We had our research papers were due on Monday which was a pretty easy project. It was kinda time consuming but not to bad. Then on Tuesday we started reading a play called 12 angry men or something like that. It is about the jury members talking about the fate of a 16 year old boy who is accused of stabbing his dad and killing him. When they take the first vote was 11 to 1 guilty. The one guy that said he was not guilty only said that because he wanted to talk about it more. They talked about it and we found out there are 2 witnesses that saw and heard the boy kill his dad. The women said that she saw the killing take place from her room across the L train tracks as it passed. The other witness said he heard the boy say im going to kill you and the a couple seconds later he heard a body hit the floor. The old man then went out of his room and saw the buy run away. The boy said he was at the movies but when the police asked him what movie and who was in it he didn't know. The one that voted not guilty starts questioning the evidence and gets some of the other people to switch. Near the end of the play the vote ends up being 8 to 3 not guilty. I think the kids is guilty because you cant put twists on the evidence that was said during the court case because the witnesses were under oath so they probably wont lie. So i think the kid is guilty and there is no way he isn't guilty.

Now i am going to talk about how Michigan has absolutely has no defense. You know your defense is terrible when you give up like 62 points against Illinois.I think Rich Rod should get fired just because he cant coach a defense. And what makes me laugh is when whenever a Michigan defender makes a tackle that act like they are the best ever when they are like the worst defense in the nation. They are even worse the Akron's defense i think haha. Well Alabama was given their second loss of the year which is kinda surprising to me and TCU killed Utah but who even knows if Utah is even good. I guess we will know when TCU gets to the National title if they make it and they get blown out or they keep it close and maybe win. Well thats it for this week.

Just another blog

So my research paper is due tmro and i just finished everything. The thing i hate is how my mom always checks my papers more then i do. I think she cares about my school work more me. This started back in 1st grade when little Jacob started school. The first coupe of years of my school i didnt mind my mother helping me with homework and checking it to make sure i knew what is was doing. But by like 4th grade is when is started getting really annoying. I would never want her to help me but i had to deal with it. By 5th grade i thought it would be over but i was wrong. But thankfully that was the last year of this. So starting out in 6th grade she finally didnt check all my homework. But every now and then she will check my writings. It is funny to watch my little sister have to go through the same thing. She is in 5th grade and she gets so frustrated just like i did. But what makes it really funny is i just sit there and watch it happen. But next year she shouldn't do it anymore. Now here are some quotes from moms that show that they only mean the best for their kids:

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.  ~Tenneva Jordan

Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs in my field, since the payment is pure love.  ~Mildred B. Vermont

"A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path."
-- Agatha Christie

So when a mom helps you all they are trying to do is help you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today i have no clue what to write about because we have been doing the same thing in English for the past week. All we have been doing is our research paper. It is kinda boring to write but its okay. I would rather write then read a book i think though. Im kinda better at writing then i am reading. I dont know why i just think reading is really boring and not fun. But writing is more fun then reading a book. When you are writing something you can say whatever you are feeling or whatever you are thinking about. Writing is just more fun then reading. But know i dont know what to talk about so im going to go back to the first week of school when we learned about having to write blogs every week. At first i thought it was kinda dumb and i would never know what to write about. But the first nine weeks is almost over and it seems like i have hardly written many blogs. It really isnt has hard as it seems. I thought i would never know what to talk about but so far until this week i have and i guess i am finding stuff to talk about this week too. I have learned if you just do stuff and not complain that is a lot easier and goes by faster. It is always good not to complain anyways because other people just get annoyed with you and then you dont have any friends. So it is just better to embrace stuff and do them with a smile on your face. So just do the work you have to do and everything is fine

Research paper

So we are doing a research paper in English class now. I am doing my paper on Dr. Jack Kevorkian. This is a pretty interesting trial because he was found guilty of helping people commit suicide. It is said he helped approximately 130 sick people with suicide from 1990 to 1999. He believed that people should have the choice to do this if they really wanted to. But other people believe it is wrong even if they want it. I personally think it is okay as long as the person wants it and the person does it his self with the doctor there supervising the person. But he was found guilty of second degree murder. This case was a turning point is assisted suicides. After this they ruled that assisted suicide is not okay and is illegal. Some people like Dr. Kevorkian thinks it is fine but other people think it is completely wrong. Well after i am done with this blog i guess i will have to do my works cited page for this research paper. I really had doing homework. It is not fun at all. I also have to get some more cards for this paper. Sometimes i think getting the information is harder then actually writing the paper. Once you have the information all you need to do is put it together which is easier then finding it i think. Well that's all i got for this week. See you next time when i have to do my blog again.

To kill a mockingbird

So this week in English we watched the movie to kill a mockingbird. The movie was in black and white and dill was the most ugliest kid ever. He was so ugly i could not even get myself to watch the movie but instead i had to laugh at him. But overall the movie was pretty good. When we saw boo at the end of the movie he looked almost exactly what i thought he would look like. Atticus  was an amazing man. i really liked his voice in the movie. He is the true example of a true gentleman. I hope i am like him when i get older. When Mr. Ewell spit in his face it was amazing how he didn't  respond. that has to take some much to not hit someone. I know for me it would be kinda hard for me but I'm sure i could do it. Jen was pretty much  what i thought he would be like. Scoot was a little different then what i thought she would look like from reading the book. I think that i liked the movie more then the book because in the movie you can see the action but in the the book i like how you have to think of the stuff yourself. I always love reading the book then seeing the movie because i like seeing how my interpretation of the characters are different or same from the people who made the movie. For the most part my interpretation was almost the same but kinda different. I wish the movie was in color though because then you can kind get more of what the people look like. You couldn't tell what colors they were wearing and what color their hair is and stuff like that.Well that's all i have for this week.

To Kill a Mockingbird

So I am almost done with the book and it was a lot better then what i though. The end of the book had the most crazy ending. To start it seemed like Tom Robinson would have been found not guilty, but of course he was. I just don't understand why white people lived like that in those days. It just makes no sense to me at all. I could not see myself treating another race like people did with black people back then. Well that is just what they did i guess. We cannot change it now. Well back to the book. So Tom tries to then get out of prison, but he fails. So now Tom is dead because he got shot like 15 times. I think that is crazy that just because he was a black man that they made sure he was dead when they shot him. The reason Tom tried to escape was because he was tired of taking the white mans chances, so he took his own chance and did not succeed. So Jem and Scoot then go to the Halloween party that is at the school. The problem is they have to walk alone to the school. Well on the way there a boy named Cecil Jacobs scares them, but they make it to the school with only a little scare. But on the way home Jem hears someone behind the, but he just thinks it is Cecil again. The two kids just go on there way. But then someone grabs Scoot and tries to stab her and Jem gets his arm broken. Well someone comes and saves then. Mr. Heck Tate then comes over to their house. They find out the man who tried to hurt Jem and Scoot was Mr. Bob Ewell. He was killed with a knife. And they also find out that the man who saved the kids was Boo Radley. The real story is that Boo heard the kids and he grabbed a knife from his house and stabbed Mr. Ewell. The story they use is the Mr. Ewell fell on his knife. Mr. Heck Tate uses this story because he knows that Boo would not want to go to court and stand in front of a court room because he has been locked in his house for 30 years. Well i guess i will have to read the rest of the book today at some point. I wonder what will happen in the end?

Another Blog

So I am reading this book called To Kill a Mockingbird in English class. I hate reading a lot and i thought this book would be bad. It really is not as bad as i thought it would be but its still not good. The only reason I think it is not good is because I have to read it and like I said I hate to read. This girl in my class (wont mention any names) keeps telling me it is the best book and I just do not see it. The plus to this situation is we are almost done reading it and that good. And this girl says that the movie is really good. So I guess I will need to watch it sometime. I hope we watch it in class but I bet we wont. i love watching movies. Movies are just interesting to me for some reason. I just love it when i read a book and then get to watch the movie because you compare what you thought the characters look like in the movie to what you thought they looked like from reading the book. It is just weird how people have completely different views on things. I also love seeing the differences in what happens in the book compared to the movie. Sometimes there will be stuff added to the movie to make it cooler or there will be thing taken away. The only reason things get added to movies that were not in the book is to maybe make it more realistic or more fun to watch. I just love how some people say it is funner instead of more fun. It is just funny. Well back to talking about books being changed to movies. I also hate when you read a good book and the movie comes out and your like this is about to be a good movie. The movie ends up being a big joke and you are just completely disappointed. You would think since the book was good then the movie was good but no. The stupid movie ends u being worse then the book and you end up being mad. Well that is what i think about people changing books into movies.

Reading Isn't Fun

So in English class we are reading To Kill a Mockingbird. So far it is not the most interesting book to read. And to make it even worse I really hate reading. So that makes the book even worse. Mr. Potter said to give it a chance and I'm trying to give the book a chance. I guess the book isn't that bad. It could be worse I guess. I am just glad we do not have to read the whole thing by ourselves. That would just be bad. The last tome I read a book from cover to cover was in 8th grade I think. The book was called Tuesdays With Morrie.  The only reason I read it was because we had to. Once I got reading it the book wasn't that bad. It thought me some lessons in life. And the fact this actually happened make the book a little better. If you are wondering what the book is about well I will tell you. The book is about a guy named Morrie of course. Morrie finds out he has ALS which is a disease that just shuts down your body at a slow rate. First it starts in your legs and arms and then just goes to everything else from there until it gets to your lungs and you suffocate and die. So Morrie decides he wont let this hold him back. This guy ends up finding him and ends up being like his best friend in Morrie's last months. Morrie teaches this guy all the lessons he had learned in his life. Morrie changes this guys life. I really liked this book and it was probably the best book I have read. So I'm going to give To Kill a Mockingbird another chance and maybe I will end up liking it.

So i have to spend a lot of my Sunday writing this  English paper. Sometimes English can really be a pain if you know what i mean. Mr. potter your the best but i really don't know what to write about in my paper.Maybe by the end of writing this blog i will figure something to write about. On to something else while i am thinking of something to write about in this blog and my paper. So for this blog I am going to write about English class of course. So this week we read some awesome poems. These poems where so boring i think i might have fell asleep a couple times in class during the poems. I know poetry is important because without it we wouldn't have music. Music is a huge part of my life. Maybe i need to just be a man and read some poems the rest of my Sunday. But i don't even have any poems at home so i will have to look some up and that is to much work to do. I guess my persuasive speech is much more important then reading some dumb poems. I'm sort of running out of things to say and i don't even know how long I have been writing at this point. I think it has been about 10 minutes i guess. So i am almost done i think. I got some good news. I'm going to write about why Ohio state should play Michigan ever year at the end of the season. And i have established i really hate poetry and it makes me fall asleep all the time. I come into class awake and i start reading and all a sudden I'm out completely tired and sleeping. POEMS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
